This is your Hvar wedding guide for 2026
Want to have a Hvar wedding but do not know where to start? You are at the right place—this is your 2026 guide introducing Hvar wedding venues and all you need to know to plan your Hvar wedding. The island of Hvar offers numerous magnificent wedding venues, including coastal, beachside restaurants, historical palaces, and dreamy gardens.
The overview of Hvar
The island of Hvar has pristine beaches, endless lavender fields, olive groves, and average temperatures of 30 Celzius from pre to post-season. It is known as the sunniest Croatian island with more than 2700 hours of sunshine annually. What is the island’s allure? It is difficult to say, but probably it is the aromas of lavender and wine, its genuine, warm people, numerous landmarks, and pristine bays. Over the years, it has become one of the most popular wedding destinations in Croatia with its beautiful beachfront wedding venues, out-of-this-world views, and delicious Croatian cuisine.
What areas to visit?
The number one destination recommendation is the city of Hvar, the island’s capital and one of the most visited destinations in Croatia. Explore the old town streets, enjoy its vibrant nightlife, and visit nearby Pakleni islands. Also, make sure to explore other cities and villages on the island – Jelsa, Starigrad, and many other areas.
What to see
Chic Croatia recommends the city of Hvar and its remarkable historical sites and attractions. Let us mention only a few: St Stephen’s piazza from the 15th century, Hannibal Lucic Gardens, the famous St Stephen’s cathedral, and of course the grand Fortica, the city’s magnificent fortress. Furthermore, make sure to stop by the Franciscan monastery, and the city of Hvar’s historical theatre, known as the first public theatre in Europe.
Getting there
Getting on the island is very easy, especially from the end of April until October, as several ferry and catamaran lines are going to the island, mainly from Split. Split has the most lines connecting the island with the mainland, but you can also take a car ferry from Drvenik on Makarska Riviera, and a catamaran from Dubrovnik that stops on its way to Split. If you need help or advice about the best way to reach the island, contact us.
When to plan your Hvar wedding?
The most popular wedding months are May June, and September. Summer months are usually the busiest and packed with tourists, however, those months have the most stable climate.
